Hi! I'm Rakshita...

A final yearSystems Design Engineering student at the University of Waterloo!

My passion for design and technology started with the drive to solve the world's pressing problems. While I haven’t conjured anything too life-changing (yet), I have gotten the opportunity to work on some cool solutions ranging from improving construction workflows for some of the largest construction projects, to providing better access to benefits to Canadians.

My interests include:

  • Exploring the human-centered aspects of creating solutions
  • Delving into the systems that contribute toward the workings of today's society
  • Sustainability + nature - also love going on walks!
  • Fostering strong relationships and hanging out with friends aka being human :)
  • Anything art! Sketching, painting

Some of my other endeavours:

  • Created a motion graphics video during my co-op at the University of Waterloo to guide students and families in attending the Virtual English Awards Ceremony
  • Previously was the Design Portfolio Lead for the Waterloo chapter for Engineers Without Borders, spearheading a community of 60+ student members to help national and international social enterprises reach their technical goals. Also got the opportunity to speak on a panel about "The Power of Volunteering in Achieving the SDGs" for Engineers Without Borders Canada's , Question the System campaign.
  • Explored different roles in University of Waterloo's Entrepreneurship Society from VP Events and Partnerships, VP Internal to Product Manager
  • Collaboratively developed Waterloo Basics, a website acting as an all-encompassing resource for future applicants and incoming students to the University of Waterloo, which garnered 1000+ impressions online (currently inactive site)
  • Designed and implemented a solar-tracking system for a solar-powered speaker, starting from the rough sketches, CAD assembly, 3D printing to the final mechanical and electrical assemblies, and Arduino and Python codes. Further created mid-fi mockups for a supplementary app to help users set-up the tracker system!
  • Running a fun little art page on instagram...might share if you ask :)
